ETFE, PVDF & MFA Tubing

EFTE, PVDF and MFA Tubing

ETFE tubing – sometimes referred to as Tefzel tubing, is produced from ethylenetetrafluoroethylene: a very hard & resilient fluoroplastic material. Due to the tough nature of ETFE tube it can withstand relatively high pressures. In some cases ETFE tubing has replaced stainless steel particularly in HPLC (high pressure liquid chromatography) applications. The high level of inertness of ETFE tube broadens its uses to include general chemical handling.

PVDF tubing – frequently called Kynar tubing, is processed from polyvinylidenefluoride: again, an incredibly tough fluoropolymer. PVDF tube is only partially fluorinated however, meaning that some chemicals can attack. PVDF tubing also has quite a low working temperature for a fluoropolymer at 140C and so is limited to the less demanding; less aggressive environments. PVDF tube is still compatible with dilute acids & dilute/concentrated chlorine, water treatment being a typical application.

EFTE, PVDF and MFA Tubing

MFA tubing – is produced from modified fluoroalkoxy, one of the youngest fluoropolymer materials. MFA tube enjoys a similar working temperature range to that of PFA & PTFE and is resistant to a wide range of corrosive substances including inorganic bases & oxidising acids. By far the most impressive characteristic of MFA tube is its unrivalled optical clarity exhibiting very low haze values with extremely high values of transmittance both in the visible & UV regions making it the most transparent of all fluoroplastic tube.

Manufacturing programmeETFE, PVDF & MFA fluoropolymer tubing, being melt-processible, have the advantage of very long, continuous lengths. Although many standard sizes are available, we produce most of our tubing to specific customer requirements: solid coloured, colour striped, pre-cut lengths and preformed/thermoformed tube configurations.
