ECTFE Film
ECTFE fluoropolymer film

FLONFILM 400 ECTFE film (sometimes referred to as Halar film) is manufactured from ethylenechlorotrifluoroethylene. This material offers outstanding performance over a wide temperature range: from cryogenic to 165C (330F). Halar film provides the highest abrasion resistance of any fluoropolymer film; enjoys superior chemical compatibility, high tensile strength and flexural modulus.
Release applications
FLONFILM 400 ECTFE film exhibits low surface energy making it an excellent choice for release applications. Due to FLONFILM 400’s low specific gravity it provides more surface area/yield than FLONFILM 400 FEP film for composite fabrication.
Electrical applications
The combination of heat stability; its electrical characteristics & barrier properties results in high insulation performance lending itself very well to the electrical & electronics industries. Halar film offers the highest dielectric strength of all fluoropolymer films. Typical applications include electrical tapes, cable insulation, printed circuits, capacitors & flat cable constructions.
General applications
Chlorine cells and solar collectors benefit from the outstanding resistance to weathering & high energy radiation of Halar ECTFE film. With a UL V-0 flammability rating FLONFILM 400 film shows performance suitable for aircraft cabin interiors & fuel cell membranes.
