NORGLIDE® maintenance free, dry running bearings
If your application requires maintenance free bearings then NORGLIDE® bearings are the ultimate choice. For high loads at low speeds simple PTFE bearings are not enough. Plain bearings with a more robust structure are required. Polyflon Technology produces plain bearings from two differing styles of NORGLIDE ® semi-finished bearing material, namely NORGLIDE® MP & NORGLIDE® M1.57.
The basic foundation of both materials is that of a metal wire mesh impregnated with a layer of filled PTFE on one side. MP material is the impregnated mesh alone, M1.57 is a composite material made up of MP bearing tape & stainless steel plate. Both semi-finished materials can be cut into blanks and used as flat bearing strip; rolled & formed into simple cylindrical bushes with or without flanges; die-cut to the customer’s specification or deep drawn.
NORGLIDE® MP maintenance free, flexible bearing tape
NORGLIDE® MP2 consists of a woven bronze/tin mesh impregnated with filled PTFE on one side, the overall thickness being 0.48mm. MP2 is designed for high load, low speed applications where no corrosive substances are present. Typical end use: hinge bearing on a fire door.
NORGLIDE® MP3 consists of a woven stainless steel mesh impregnated with filled PTFE on one side with the same overall thickness: 0.48mm. Just like MP2, this material is perfect for high loads with the advantage of corrosion resistance due its SS mesh. Typical end use: stem bearing in an off-shore oil/gas valve.
NORGLIDE® MP4 is a more robust version of MP2 with an overall thickness of 0.78mm.
NORGLIDE® MP6 is a more robust version of MP3 with an overall thickness of 0.78mm.
NORGLIDE® M1.57 maintenance free bearing material with stainless steel backing
NORGLIDE® M1.57 plain bearings consist of MP6 bearing tape firmly bonded to Type SO2155 cold rolled stainless steel plate. As shown above, maintenance free bearings produced from NORGLIDE® M1.57 can be formed into many differing shapes for a host of demanding applications. The combination of stainless steel components within the composite makes it an ideal choice for off-shore ‘brackish’ water environments, the main application being large butterfly valve, top & bottom stem bearings. Other applications include large bore valves in de-salination plants.
